George Kerr and Stanley Cohn/James Dorsett American Counsel Association Scholarships FOR SECOND YEAR STUDENTS
Criteria: Currently a second year law student; high scholastic aptitude; financial need; demonstrated efforts showing the desire to use the law in some way to improve the world we live in
Please provide the Student Finance Office with the following: (1) Name, address, e-mail and cell phone number (summer contact information also if different); (2) Official law school transcript OR certification of overall GPA and class rank from the Dean’s Office; (3) A letter from a law school professor or administrator addressing your academic credentials and extracurricular activities; and, (4) A letter from the applicant regarding financial needs and any other information that is relevant to the above-mentioned criteria
One student from UConn School of Law will be nominated for this scholarship. The ultimate winner of the scholarship will be notified in May and acknowledged at the Annual Dinner Meeting in San Francisco on Monday, August 8, 2016. Up to $500.00 in expenses are available so that the recipient and a guest will have the option to attend and receive the scholarship at the dinner.

National Association of Bond Lawyers (“NABL”) Frederick L. Ballard memorial Scholarship Program
Award: Up to 5 scholarships
Criteria: To be a recipient of one of the five possible scholarships, an applicant must be currently enrolled in the Doctor of Jurisprudence Program or Masters of Law (LL.M.) Program at an accredited law school located within the United States of America. Each scholarship will include (a) waiver of the enrollment fee to the seminar, (b) complimentary hotel lodging at the Swissotel, (c) reimbursement of roundtrip airfare, and (d) reimbursement of ground transportation to and from the scholarship recipient’s departing airport and to and from one of the Chicago airports. Reimbursement for the items listed in clauses (c) and (d) are subject to the requirements set forth in the attached application.

Host: The Connecticut Criminal Justice Educational and Charitable Association
Criteria: The scholarship is for a undergraduate or law school student who has an interest in pursuing a career in juvenile justice (for purposes of the scholarship juvenile justice is broadly defined).

The Mike Eidson Scholarship Fund
Host: AAJ Women for Justice Education
Criteria: Rising 3L (or rising 4L in a night program) female student who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a plaintiffs’ lawyer or criminal defense lawyer, along with dedication to upholding and defending the principles of the Constitution, and to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized

Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey (HBA-NJ) Scholarship
Host: Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey
Award: Up to $3,000
Criteria: The law students who will be eligible to receive a scholarship from the HBA-NJ are those Hispanic Americans (at least one parent must be of Hispanic descent) who are or have been residents of the State of New Jersey and who are currently enrolled and attending an American Bar Association approved law school in the United States. The applicant must provide the HBA-NJ with a certified law school transcript and a letter from the law school stating that he/she is a student in good standing. The applicant must be or have been a resident of the State of New Jersey

Association and Bar President’s Scholarships – applicants must be residents of the Waterbury Judicial District (Middlebury, Naugatuck, Prospect, Southbury, Watertown, Wolcott, Woodbury or Waterbury) and be in or entering their final year of student in the Fall of 2016 at an accredited law school.
Traurig Scholarship – applicants must also be residents of the Waterbury Judicial District but can be entering their second or final year of study in the Fall of 2016 as a full or part-time student at an accredited institution
