Walter C. Welsh

Adjunct Professor

Walter is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Connecticut School of Law where he has taught courses in tax law and insurance law.  He is also engaged in private practice providing estate and tax planning for individuals and families.

He began his career as Trial attorney for the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service. At Hartford Financial Services Company, he held a number of roles, including tax counsel and assistant director of taxes, director government affairs and corporate relations,

More recently, Walter was Executive Vice President for Taxes and Retirement Security at the American Council of Life Insurers where he oversaw policy development and advocacy for federal tax and retirement security law at the ACLI.

He has served on the Advisory Committee of the Federal Bar Association Insurance Tax Seminar and speaks at insurance industry seminars and programs.
