Marissa Elkins has been practicing law since 2005 and began her solo law practice in July 2012. Prior to striking out on her own, she was a partner in the Amherst, MA law firm of Allison, Angier, Bartmon, Elkins, & Fernald, LL.P. She began her career as a public defender and worked as a staff attorney for the Northampton Superior Court office of the Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services. Professor Elkins focuses her practice on criminal law, civil rights litigation, appellate advocacy, and personal injury. She is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and is currently serving on that organization's Indigent Defense Committee. She is a member of the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Massachusetts Bar Association. Professor Elkins is currently president-elect of the Hampshire County Bar Association and will begin her term as president of that organization in September 2014.
