Katharine Richards

Adjunct Professor

In 2013, Katharine Richards completed a Ph.D. in Anthropology at the University of Connecticut based on independent fieldwork in Croatia. This work aimed to understand local perspectives on international human rights trials and found that, while meaningful and influential, the international trials were also viewed, both by victims and perpetrators of human rights abuses, as disconnected from their lives and biased. This research interest began with a bachelor’s degree in Peace Studies and Sociology at UConn in 1999 and continues with social justice-oriented volunteer work. Since 2004, Katharine Richards has taught anthropology and human rights courses at UConn Storrs, Avery Point, and the Law School.
