Richard Pomp to Speak at Washington Tax Institute

Professor Richard Pomp will speak on June 1, 2018, at the 2018 Advanced State and Local Tax Institute at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. He will debate Marilyn A. Wethekam of Horwood Marcus & Berk Chartered in a panel titled "Match Point: Debate on All Topics SALT."

Ángel Oquendo to Speak at University of Frankfurt

Professor Ángel Oquendo will speak on June 19, 2018, at the University of Frankfurt Law School in Frankfurt, Germany. The event is to be hosted by the German American Lawyer's Association and Oquendo will give a lecture entitled, "Justice for All: Certifying Global Class Action."

Jon Bauer Speaks at Immigration Scholars Workshop

ABA Honors Alexandra Lahav for Book

The American Bar Association honored Professor Alexandra Lahav with an honorable mention in the prestigious 2018 Silver Gavel Awards for her book In Praise of Litigation. The book, published in February 2017 by Oxford University Press, refutes the notion that the United States is awash in frivolous lawsuits and describes how restrictions on the ability to bring suit undermine a pillar of American democracy. Hillary Greene Honored by Bar Foundation

Professor Hillary Greene has been named a 2018 James W. Cooper Fellow by the Connecticut Bar Foundation. The foundation annually recognizes lawyers across the state for their advancement of the legal profession by honoring them as fellows.

Sara Bronin Elected Chair of Preservation Trust

Professor Sara Bronin has been elected chair of the board of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation. The trust is a non-profit orginization dedicated to protecting the buildings, land and sites that contribute to the heritage of Connecticut communities.

Richard Pomp to Speak at Conference in New Mexico

Professor Richard Pomp will take part in a "Debate on Emerging State Tax Issues" with Doug Lindholm, president of the Council on State Taxation, on May 11, 2018, at the New Mexico Tax Research Institute's Tax Policy Conference in Albuquerque. Helen Hecht, general counsel of the Multistate Tax Commission, will serve as moderator.

Professor Peter Kochenburger will speak at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners' international forum on May 14, 2018 in Washington, D.C. He will speak on a panel entitled, "The Role of Insurance & Reinsurance in Disaster Risk Management."

Professor Peter Kochenburger spoke at the 4th annual Connected Vehicles Insurance loT & AI 2018 Summit in Washington, D.C., on April 25-26, 2018. The conference, hosted by Telematics Insurance of North America, focused on innovations and improvements in the process of buying insurance in the United States.
