Connecticut Journal of International Law: International Trade and Compliance: State of Play

The World Trade Organization set forth the principles of free trade: Trade without discrimination, freer trade, predictability, promoting free competition and encouragement of development and economic reform. The diversity of national legislation combined with the array of long-arm statutes on a domestic level increase the complexity associated with doing business across borders. With challenges come opportunities; opportunity to trade in a vast number of commodities and an opportunity to regulate them.
