A First-Hand Account of the First Amendment with Thomas G. Krattenmaker

Professor Thomas G. Krattenmaker will discuss the enduring significance of two important First Amendment cases decided by the U.S. Supreme Court: Clay v. United States (Muhammad Ali’s refusal to be inducted into the U.S. Army) and Cohen v. California (“f#&% the draft”). Both cases were decided in the 1970 term, while Krattenmaker was clerking for the Court.

A buffet lunch will begin at 11:45 a.m. and will be followed at 12:30 p.m. by Krattenmaker's lecture and a question-and-answer session.
