On February 25 at noon, please join us to hear from Mary Bonauto, a principal architect of the litigation strategies that culminated in the Supreme Court’s rulings establishing marriage equality in America. Mary will talk about the path through the states to the key decisions in Windsor v. USA and Obergefell v. Hodges. She will also touch on recent developments, including the Supreme Court’s holding that discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and transgender status is sex discrimination and a range of recent rulings expanding Free Exercise rights to allow objectors exemptions to laws. Mary is Civil Rights Project Director at GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) and lives in Portland ME.
