Description:

The UConn Law community is invited to the Indigenous People’s Day Community Celebration. From 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m come to Starr Reading Room where all the cultural affinity groups will unite to share their culture and food with the campus community. Then, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Professor Jamelia Morgan will moderate an educational discussion, "From Columbus to Colonialism: Understanding Columbus' Impact", featuring esteemed panelists Lee Mixashawn Rozie, Professor Dexter Gabriel, and Professor Matthew Warshauer. We will discuss Columbus' controversial history, his impact on indigenous, black, and latinx communities, and why some communities continue to celebrate Columbus today.
