Description:

The Connecticut Sentencing Commission will hold a symposium on pretrial release and detention on October 19, 2017. The theme of the symposium is “Pretrial Justice: Legal and Evidence-Based Practices.” Distinguished speakers will present research on state and national pretrial issues, including risk assessment, pretrial release and detention, consequences of pretrial incarceration, legal challenges to pretrial practices across the nation, risk management, and the use of preventive detention.

Speakers will include the Honorable Judge Robert Devlin, the Chief Administrative Judge for Criminal Matters in Connecticut; the Honorable Justice Charles Daniels of the New Mexico Supreme Court; Attorney Alec Karakatsanis and Professor Alexander Holsinger among others.

Attendance is open to Sentencing Commission members and their staff, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, bail staff, law enforcement agencies, UConn faculty, students, alumni and other invited parties.
