The Honorable James L. Buckley will deliver "Musings on Religion in American Public Life" at an event sponsored by the UConn Law Chapter of the Federalist Society. Dean Timothy S. Fisher will deliver opening remarks.
James L. Buckley is probably the last living individual to have served in all three branches of the federal government. His credentials include: judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit; undersecretary of state for Security Assistance; U.S. Senator for the State of New York; president of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Inc.; lead petitioner in Buckley f. Valeo, a monumental campaign-finance law case; he introduced FERPA,The Family Rights and Education Privacy Ace; and he introduced the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment.
Judge Buckley has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share and should provide for a very interesting and informative lecture and discussion. He will be speaking and then answering questions.
Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP. by sending an email to UconnFedSoc@gmail.com.
