MendenFreimen LLP has announced that Brian Annino '03 will join the firm's Atlanta office as a senior associate attorney. Annino will specialize in business law, estate planning and trust, and estate administration matters. Annino previously owned his own practice, the Annino Law Firm, a general practice firm also in the greater Atlanta area.
Ice Miller LLP, a general practice firm with locations in many major U.S. cities, announced that Daniel Drobnick '12 will join the firm's Columbus, Ohio, office. Drobnick, who previously worked at Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP, another Ohio-based firm, will join Ice Miller's Business Group, where he will primarily serve corporate clients.
Julius J. Kremski, who served as a Connecticut Superior Court judge for 37 years, died on October 23, 2018. Read his obituary.
Marianne Drost '75 was elected to the board of directors of the World Affairs Forum at its annual meeting on June 6, 2018. The World Affairs Forum is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating people about global affairs. Drost is the former senior vice president, deputy general counsel and corporate secretary of Verizon Communications. Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP announced that Renée M. Dailey '99 will join the firm's brand new financial restructuring and global debt finance team. Dailey, who previously co-led bankruptcy litigation at Morgan Lewis, joined Akin Gump's Hartford office. Along with Dailey, the firm brought on three other experienced attorneys, who, along with Dailey, will make up the brand new team.
Jeff Almquist '73, a longtime California family-court judge, died on October 6, 2018. Read his obituary.
Minal Patel Davis '01 was honored with a Presidential Medal for her work combatting human-trafficking in Houston. Davis, who received both her JD and MBA from UConn in 2001, earned the award for her work as a special advisor to the mayor of Houston. Davis received her medal, the highest honor in her field, from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the White House on October 17, 2018.
Emily C. Deans '15 has been appointed to the Board of Directors of The Keney Park Sustainability Project. The project's mission is to help families become self-sustainable and environmentally conscious while preserving Hartford's Keney Park. Deans works at Robinson & Cole as an associate in the areas of environmental, telecommunications, and utilities law.
Linda L. Morkan '87 was appointed to The University of Connecticut Law School Alumni Association's Board of Directors on October 16, 2018. Morkan currently chairs the appellate practice group at Robinson & Cole LLP, where she has worked since 1988.
U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions named John Durham '75 an advisor to a new federal task force targeting the MS-13 street gang and other organized crime groups. Durham will lead a sub-committee on MS-13. Before his appointment as a U.S. attorney, Durham served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the eastern district of New York.
