Dan A. Brody '15 has been elected president of the Connecticut Asian Pacific American Bar Association for 2019-20. Brody was installed during the association's Annual Gala Dinner on Oct. 16, 2019, in New Haven. The association, an affiliate of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, supports Asian Pacific American attorneys and communities and those interested in Asian Pacific American legal issues throughout Connecticut. Brody previously served as vice president and is co-chair of the affiliate's Hartford Regional Committee.
Tucker Griffith '98 has joined Lathrop Gage as a partner in the firm's Intellectual Property Transactions Group. Griffith has more than 20 years’ experience in intellectual property law, including in prosecution, litigation, due diligence and transactional work in domestic and international markets. During his time at UConn School of Law, Griffith served as as managing editor of the Connecticut Law Review."
Michael G. Iovanna '18 joined Neubert, Pepe and Monteith as an associate in the firm's New Haven office on Oct. 10, 2019. Iovanna is a civil litigation attorney whose practice focuses on construction litigation, commercial litigation, and professional malpractice and insurance defense.
Daryl F. Ross '80, who practiced law in Meriden and Manchester, Connecticut, for more than 30 years, died on Oct. 17, 2019. Read his obituary.
Chelsea R. Sousa '18 has joined Murtha Cullina LLP as an associate in the firm's Litigation Department. Sousa represents clients in the areas of collections, foreclosures, evictions and commercial and landlord-tenant matters.
Colin Leonard '01 was named deputy managing member of the Syracuse office of Bond Schoeneck & King on Oct. 7, 2019. Leonard is a management-side labor and employment law attorney whose practice includes traditional labor-related work, including collective bargaining, labor arbitrations and agency matters before the National Labor Relations Board and Public Employment Relations Board.
Paula D. Sullivan '84, who was an assistant attorney general for Connecticut, died on Oct. 8, 2019. Read her obituary.
Luke Tashjian ‘06 will address the New Canaan Men’s Club in New Canaan, Connecticut on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019. Tashjian, a partner in the Trusts & Estates, Business Law, and Tax departments at Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan LLC, will discuss selected 2019 Connecticut legislative session tax changes.
Kelly Wall '14 has joined Halloran Sage at the firm’s Hartford office. Wall practices insurance defense, and focuses primarily on personal injury, motor vehicle accidents and premises matters.
Karen DeMeola '96, the assistant dean for finance, administration and enrollment at UConn School of Law, will be the keynote speaker at the Equity Symposium at Goodwin College in East Hartford on Oct. 19, 2019. The event, organized by community leaders and educators from across Connecticut, promotes the advancement of equity work.
