Two More UConn Alumni Nominated to Superior Court

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has nominated two more UConn Law alumni to serve as judges of the state Superior Court: Claudia A. Baio '89, a partner at Howard, Kohn, Sprague & Fitzgerald LLP in Hartford, and Assistant Public Defender Tejas Bhatt '03.

Robert Lynn '75 Sworn in as Chief Justice of New Hampshire Supreme Court

Robert J. Lynn '75 was sworn in April 9, 2018, by Gov. Christopher Sununu as the 36th chief justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court. Lynn served as an associate justice for seven years before Sununu nominated him in February to become chief justice. The New Hampshire Executive Council confirmed the nomination in March. Lynn previously served as a trial court judge, as chief justice of the New Hampshire Superior Court, as an assistant U.S. attorney and as chief of the New England Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force. He also spent several years in private practice.

Leonard Rodriguez '94 Receives Appleseed Award

Connecticut Appleseed honored Leonard Rodriguez '94, general counsel for UIL Holdings, with its Good Apple Award on April 4, 2018. The organization, which mobilizes volunteer lawyers and other professionals to further economic and social justice in Connecticut, presented the award at a dinner at The Quinnipiac Club in New Haven.

Three UConn Law Alumni Nominated to Superior Court

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has nominated three UConn Law alumni to serve as judges of the state Superior Court: former state Sen. Eric D. Coleman '77; Assistant Attorney General  Ann E. Lynch '90, and James Sicilian '81, general counsel for Day Pitney LLP.

Ingrid Moll '99 Nominated to Appellate Court

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has nominated Judge Ingrid L. Moll '99 to the Connecticut Appellate Court. Moll has served on the Superior Court bench for the past four years. She was previously a member of the Hartford law firm Motley Rice LLC and had served as a law clerk for Justice David M. Borden of the Connecticut Supreme Court from 1999 to 2001. She is a past president of the University of Connecticut Law School Alumni Association. Five of the eight judges now serving on the Connecticut Appellate Court are UConn Law alumni.

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has nominated five UConn Law alumni to serve as judges of the state Superior Court: Suzanne E. Caron '88, a partner with Caron & Parris LLC; Robert W. Clark '97, special counsel to the Connecticut Attorney General; Maureen Price-Boreland '92, executive director of Community Partners in Action; Joseph B. Schwartz '07, a partner with Murtha Cullina LLP; and James Field Spallone '92, the chief legal counsel in the Connecticut General Assembly’s House Democratic Caucus.

Richard Gifford '84 Speaks at Dartmouth Land Records Forum

Richard Gifford '84 was an expert panelist at a discussion of the history of Dartmouth, Massachusetts, through its land records on March 18, 2018, in the Russells Mills Schoolhouse in Dartmouth. The event was hosted by the Dartmouth Historical & Arts Society. Gifford is known for his expertise in the history and genealogy of the area.

Michael Callahan '95 Hired by Stanford Law School

Michael Callahan '95, senior vice president and general counsel at LinkedIn, has been appointed by Stanford Law School as a law professor and the new executive director of the Rock Center for Corporate Governance. The Rock Center publishes research and develops tools aimed at a broader understanding of corporate governance. Callahan was previously executive vice president and general counsel of Yahoo for 12 years, as well as executive vice president and chief legal officer of Auction.com.
