Mathew Jasinski ’06 Promoted to Member at Motley Rice

Motley Rice LLC has promoted Mathew Jasinski '06 to member. Working in the firm's Hartford office, Jasinski advocates for consumers, businesses and government entities in complex class actions related to consumer protection; unfair trade practices; and commercial, environmental and securities litigation. He also represents whistleblowers and serves the firm’s appellate group in state and federal courts.

Curtis Johnson '89 Becomes CFE/Save The Sound CEO

Curtis Johnson '89 has been named CEO of The Connecticut Fund for the Environment/Save the Sound. Presently, Johnson serves as the executive director. Originally, he lead the organization's legal team and has since taken on numerous roles including program director, executive director of Save the Sound and executive director of the land and water, communications, legal and memberships offices.

Donna Haghighat '92 has been named chief executive officer of the Women’s Fund of Western Massachusetts, which supports progress toward gender equity. She worked previously with Collabyrinth Collective, Aurora Women and Girls Foundation, YWCA Hartford Region and the Women’s Education and Leadership Fund

Dana Hrelic '08 Named Finalist for Attorney of the Year

Dana Hrelic '08, a partner at Horton, Dowd, Bartschi & Levesque in Hartford, is among three finalists for the Attorney of the Year award from the Connecticut Law Tribune. A former editor of the Connecticut Law Review and clerk for Connecticut Supreme Court Justice Christine Vertefeulille, she has argued six appeals to the state Supreme Court and 10 to the Appellate Court. She is chair of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. The two other finalists are Josh Koskoff of Koskoff Koskoff & Bieber and former U.S. District Judge Alan Nevas. The winner will be announced at the Connecticut Legal Awards Dinner Oct. 3 at the Bond Room in Hartford

Kevin Kane '68 and James Tancredi '79 Honored for Leadership

Two UConn Law alumni will be honored as Distinguished Leaders at the annual Professional Excellence Awards dinner, sponsored by the Connecticut Law Tribune, at the Bond Room in Hartford on Oct. 3, 2017.  They are Chief State's Attorney Kevin Kane '68 and Judge James Tancredi '79 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, a long-time partner at Day Pitney.

Andrew Dean '01 Joins Cooper Cargill Chant

Attorney Andrew Dean '01 has joined the law firm of Cooper Cargill Chant in Conway, New Hampshire. Previously, Dean practiced in Boston for 10 years with Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo. His focus was on real estate acquisition, disposition, leasing, development and financing. 

Christie Jean '14 Elected to The Artists Collective Board of Directors

Christie Jean '14 has been elected to The Artists Collective Board of Directors. The Artists Collective is an arts and cultural organization serving Greater Hartford that trains more than 1,200 students a year in dance, music, drama, and visual and martial arts. Jean is a lawyer in Robinson+Cole's Public Finance Group, where she represents state, municipal, and Indian tribal governments in the issuance of tax-exempt and taxable bonds.

Enid Ray '94 Appointed Our Piece of The Pie CEO

Enid Ray '94 has been appointed CEO of Our Piece of The Pie's, effective August 15, 2017. Our Piece of the Pie is a youth-based nonprofit organization that aims to "help urban youth because economically independent adults" through academic, job skills training and outreach initiatives. Previously, Ray served as the executive director of the Hartford School System's school choice office and also as Hartford's youth services director.
