The accomplishments, milestones, awards and news of UConn School of Law alumni:
The Glastonbury Education Foundation announced it has selected Agnes R. Larson '12 to its Board of Directors. Larson is currently an associate at the Connecticut-based law firm Reid and Riege, P.C., where she represents clients in complex litigation, including insurance and employment disputes.
Edward Elgar Publishing has released a book by Qihao He, the first SJD graduate of UConn School of Law, "Climate Change and Catastrophe Management in a Changing China: Government, Insurance and Alternatives." The book, published as part of the Elgar Studies in Climate Law series, explores how private insurance could protect China from climate change, which was the topic of He's SJD thesis. Now an associate professor at the College of Comparative Law at China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing, He also earned an LLM in insurance law from UConn School of Law.
Nine UConn Law alumni were honored as New Leaders in the Law by the Connecticut Law Tribune on March 7, 2019. The alumni are: Cindy Cieslak '12; Daniel D. Kagan '14; Daniel Lage '15; Hailey Rice '12; Benjamin C. Jensen '15; Dorothy Lila Foster '04; DeVaughn L. Ward '11; Latonia C. Williams '09; Tara A. Sheldon '13; Laura Ann Keller '15.
Five UConn Law alumni were recognized for their legal work by the Connecticut Law Tribune on March 7, 2019. Kenneth J. Krayeske '10 was recognized in the "Game Changer" category; Chad A. McDaniel '01 in the "GC Impact" category; Antonio Robaina '79 as an "Officiator"; Juri E. Taalman '99 in the "Unsung Hero" category; and Sarah Stark Oldham '88 as a mentor.
UniBank announced that Cherie Lisee '12 has joined the bank as vice president, compliance and risk manager and privacy officer. Lisee previously worked at Santander Bank.
Cantor Colburn, LLP, one of the largest patent law firms in the U.S., announced the promotion of Alicia Hayter '11 to counsel. Hayter, who is experienced in several areas of intellectual property law, has been an associate at the firm since 2011. Before law school, she worked as an engineer for Otis Elevator.
Smith Anderson, LLP announced the hiring of Jordan Fieldstein '12 as an associate in its Raleigh location. Fieldstein, who specializes in tax, corporate and business law matters, previously worked at Finn Dixon & Herling LLP, a Connecticut-based firm.
The Connecticut Democratic State Central Committee announced the election of Erick Russell '12 as vice chair of the party. Additionally, Russell serves as chair of the Connecticut Bar Association's LGBT section. Russell is an associate in Pullman & Comley LLC's Bridgeport office, where he is a member of the firm’s Government Finance Department.
Day Pitney LLP announced the promotion of three UConn Law alumni to partner on January 2, 2019. The new partners are: Sebastian Lombardi '11, who works in the Energy and Utilities practice group in the firm's Hartford office; Robert Rahilly '05, who works in commercial real estate transactions and financing in the Stamford, Connecticut, office; and Jennifer Soldberg '05, who works in the Parsippany, New Jersey, office, in commercial real estate transactions.
