Be prepared for something extraordinary at the UConn School of Law, where an amazing legal education is built upon small classes, extensive faculty contact, broad practice opportunities, and the world as your campus. Our community of professors and students share knowledge and experiences from the outset, starting with the essential foundation subjects and building to an impressive array of intellectually engaging classes, clinical and externship opportunities, symposia, and employment networking events. Students rapidly become part of the dynamic fabric of our community of learners at UConn Law.
Our educational philosophy places emphasis on small classes. In such a setting, faculty and students know one another well and are able to consider and respect divergent positions and opinions. Whether taking core courses or one of our dozens of small seminars, participating in a certificate program, or working with clients in one of many clinical opportunities, the Law School provides a comprehensive and progressive education in which students are exposed to both theoretical and practical aspects of law. The course of study reflects the diversity and intellectual ambition of the students and faculty. The Law School prides itself on a high level of civil discourse. The environment is collegial, and the unusually low student-to-faculty ratio engenders a collaborative environment and assures close contact with some of the nation's leading legal practitioners and scholars. Moreover, our goal is to make Law School as affordable as possible. Our graduates have among the lowest law school debt in the country, allowing them to pursue careers of their choice. With day and evening legal education options, the Law School offers programs for your needs and career aspirations.
The Law School's beautiful twenty-one acre campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Sites, and the historic buildings have been augmented with high tech classrooms and plenty of room for students to meet and talk with one another and with faculty. Campus amenities include a cafeteria, book store where snacks and supplies can be purchased, and a small fitness room with weights and cardio equipment. A campus highlight is the stunning Gothic-style library, one of the largest law libraries in the world. Equally inviting is the campus' surrounding area, the historic West End of Hartford. Beautiful and architecturally significant homes abound, many of which provide living accommodations for students, faculty and staff. The neighborhood offers an environment rich in ethnic food, pubs, and public transportation. The Law School is part of the vibrant metropolitan area of Greater Hartford, an area rich in tradition, history, government, commerce, culture and entertainment.
For students who want a challenging educational experience in a law school that emphasizes professionalism, collaboration, good works, and high standards, UConn Law offers it all – in an affordable and aesthetically pleasing setting.
