Budget

Each year the International Programs department and the Office of Financial Aid work together to create an appropriate semester or year budget for the exchange program. This budget is based on the UConn Law rate of tuition plus the living costs associated with the program.

Term of Schedule

Students choosing to study at the University of Nottingham can opt to attend the university for the full academic year for one semester in the fall or spring. Connecticut students who attend for one semester only are assessed by written paper in all their courses even if they are enrolled in year-long courses.

Fall Semester End of September to mid-December
Spring Semester End of February to the end of May
Full Year End of September to early August, until course work completed

The University offers multiple start dates throughout the year, with intakes in Spring (January to April) and Autumn (September to November). The exact start date will depend on the students’ academic and English levels, as well as their progression degree intake.

Program of Study

Connecticut students select courses at the Master and Undergraduate level for which they meet any necessary course pre-requisites.

International students attending pursuant to the exchange agreement with UConn School of Law will work with Fiona Hayes to choose law modules appropriate for the student. A listing of modules that are currently offered at the school is available on The University of Nottingham School of Law's website.

The Culture

Nottingham is a lively and cosmopolitan city, filled with history. Located 128 miles north of London, in the East Midlands, it surely is an amazing city to explore.

There are caves underneath the city that were used as storerooms, factories and housing for over 800 years which are a good activity for the free time. Also, visiting Nottingham Castle and learning about the legendary Robin Hood, or stopping into the oldest pub in England (Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem) are on the list.

Life in Nottingham provides you access to modern art and a unique local culture. It is the address of one of the largest modern art galleries in the UK: the Nottingham Contemporary, which frequently puts on exhibitions by world-leading artists. The city was also recently named a UNESCO World City of Literature for its incredible literary heritage and thriving creative writing scene.

Every year, the city is a scene of festivals and events, including GameCity, the world’s first cultural centre for video gaming; the Nottingham Festival of Words, a celebration of literature; and the rides and stalls of the 700-year-old Goose Fair.

Home to some of the best shopping in the UK, an exciting cultural calendar and quality restaurants and bars, this city has it all.
