Student Mentor Programs

Connecticut Chapter of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys

The Connecticut Chapter of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (CTNAELA) is reinstituting its mentor program to assist law students interested in elder law. Mentors have provided advice on topics ranging from practice skills and administration to the application of current law. Details about the program will be forthcoming.

Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity, Inc. Mentor Program

The Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity, Inc. (LCD) Mentor Program is designed to provide law students of color an opportunity to develop a one-on-one relationship with a lawyer from one of LCD’s participating organizations.  The practicing lawyer provides information on various issues, including, but not limited to, the day-to-day practice of law, large law firm/government agency/corporate culture and assimilation, job research strategies and skills, law school courses, and related academic issues. Anyone interested should contact Kai Davis at either (860) 524-5386 or kdavis@lawyerscollaborativefordiversity.org.

Women Law Students’ Association Mentor/Mentee Program

The Women Law Students’ Association (WLSA) provides the opportunity for first year law school students to be paired with an upperclass student who has had similar first year professors or who has a similar interest in law. The upperclass student mentor answers questions, gives advice and aids his or her student mentee throughout their first year in law school.

The WLSA mentor/mentee program is open to all students regardless of gender and mentors/mentees need not be members of WLSA in order to participate.

Upperclassman interested in volunteering to be a WSLA mentor to a first year student should contact the Women Law Students’ Association at WLSA@students.law.uconn.edu.
