Student Finance Office Statement On Privacy Of Student Records And Confidentiality
FERPA Privacy Waiver: Before calling our office on behalf of a student, please ensure that the student has identified you as a designee via the Online FERPA Privacy Waiver in the Student Administration System, and that you have your assigned access code available.
If you have not been assigned an access code, you will need to ask the student to complete the Online FERPA Privacy Waiver and name you as a designee in order for staff to be able to speak with you. Parents of students who are required to submit their income information and tax information may request additional information regarding these forms. Students will NOT be given any information regarding parents income. Unique identifying questions will be asked to ensure that the parent is on the phone.
Copies of written and electronic (email/fax) correspondence are kept in student files. When at all possible, necessary responses are sent via email directly to the student.
Students who request that information be sent to a third party (i.e. landlord, mortgage company, etc.) must submit a written letter of consent with the third party's information.
