Deadlines
Employment Application Deadlines
Applications from students interested in on-campus employment are accepted throughout the year. Applicants are also encouraged to e-mail their resume as a Word document to the staff in the Student Employment Program Office.
There are a limited number of on-campus job opportunities and most positions are filled within the initial four weeks of each academic year. Students who wish to maximize their on-campus employment prospects are encouraged to submit their application materials and resume as soon as they are aware of their interest and within the first week of classes.
A second wave of hiring routinely occurs towards the end of the Fall semester through the first weeks of January, for Spring semester positions.
Students with a Work Study Award as part of their financial aid package must meet an early October deadline to preserve or activate their award.
Applications and resumes for on-campus summer jobs are accepted at any time, with interviews and commitments for summer employment beginning as early as Spring Break.

Employment Authorization Periods and Deadlines
Students who have accepted a specific on-campus job offer, must come to the Student Employment Program Office and complete all required paperwork and then allow a minimum of two business days for administrative processing of their employment paperwork before they will be notified via e-mail of an approved employment start date. Individual student authorizations may require additional processing time, dependent on a variety of conditions. International students and non-UConn students should submit their completed authorization material as much as two weeks prior to their desired authorization start date.
Students may not begin working until they have received a confirmation e-mail, from the Student Employment Program staff. Employment authorizations are not retroactive.
Employment Authorization End-Dates
Each employment authorization has a specific start date and end-date. End-dates are contingent on a combination of factors including budget allocations, work study award periods, supervisor and department needs, student enrollment status and the University's fiscal calendar.
It is the responsibility of the student worker to maintain an awareness of the end-date established for her or his job. The employment start date and end-date will be stated in the e-mail notification from the Student Employment Program staff and any change to the end-date, initiated by the University, will be communicated to the student via electronic mail, by the Student Employment Program staff. Supervisors are always copied on e-mail communications of this kind.
Students who continue to work on-campus beyond their employment authorization end-date, waive their right to paid compensation for any hours worked subsequent to the employment authorization end-date.
Any work performed by students before or after an employment authorization period is considered volunteer work.
Payroll Deadlines
The University of Connecticut operates on a Friday-Thursday pay week. Generally, completed time sheets must be received in the Student Employment Program Office before the close of the law library on the day prior to the pay period end date. Time sheets are routinely due on the 2nd Wednesday of each pay period. Occasionally, due to state and federal holidays and other matters outside of the Law School's control, payroll deadlines are adjusted to accommodate holidays or emergency situations. Announcements are sent via e-mail to all student workers and their supervisors when deadlines are changed.
