Connecticut Moot Court Board
The Connecticut Moot Court Board members consist of the most promising oral advocates at the University of Connecticut School of Law. Selection for the Board arises through exemplary performance in the William H. Hastie and Alva P. Loiselle intrascholastic competitions, held in the fall and spring semesters, respectively. Membership is also extended to students with outstanding performances in client counseling competitions or through participation on an interscholastic competition team. Board membership provides students the chance to hone their advocacy skills by competing in moot court competitions across the country, including the National Moot Court Competition and the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Members also assist with the first-year interterm moot court program by judging practice arguments. The Board strives to promote the development of oral and written advocacy skills, to enhance the reputation of the University of Connecticut School of Law by maintaining a high level of quality and prestige, and to augment the legal education of members and the student body by introducing students to, and providing them with the opportunity to debate, emerging jurisprudential issues.
