Indian Law

Indian Law

This guide provides an overview of Indian law materials available in the University of Connecticut School of Law Library. Indian law refers primarily to federal law and encompasses the treaties, statutes, executive orders, court decisions, and administrative actions which define the status of the Indian tribes and their relationship to the federal government. This guide also includes materials on tribal law, the body of law that each tribe applies to its own internal affairs. Tribal law sources include constitutions, tribal codes, and tribal court decisions.

Most of the materials listed are located either on the fifth floor, in the 3rd floor Reference collection, or in the Reserve collection behind the Circulation Desk. To locate specific items, please consult the online catalog or ask a reference librarian for assistance.
