Any returning student who will be participating in ANY FALL RECRUITING PROGRAMS MUST ATTEND one of three informational sessions given by the Office of Career Services. These sessions will supply you with important information needed before leaving for the summer. There are deadlines, resume reviews and application timeframes that you must be aware of as they all happen over the summer months. Please attend one of the following sessions: 1. Mason Presents on Tax and Labor
On April 15, Professor Ruth Mason will deliver her paper "Tax Expenditures and Global Labor Mobility" at Brooklyn Law as part of their "International Economic Law Forum." She also will deliver her paper on April 16 at Northwestern Law as part of their tax policy colloquium.

Student Wins Environmental Award
Ross Friedberg '09 has received an Environmental Leadership Award for graduate students at the University of Connecticut. The Environmental Policy Advisory Council has also recognized the Law School's Environmental Law Society with a 2008-2009 Environmental Leadership Award in the Student Organization category.

Pomp Panelist on 21st Century Economy
On April 9, Professor Richard Pomp will be a panelist a meeting of the Commission on the 21st Century Economy at the University of California, Davis. Pomp was appointed as a member of the Commission by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Synopsis: There are millions of uninsured people in America. The health care crisis is getting worse and people and businesses cannot afford the increasing costs of health care. Politicians, policy makers, business owners, community organizations, and others are struggling to find solutions. Is a universal health care system possible? What are the needs of the State of Connecticut and what is being done to solve this growing crisis? How can we achieve universal health care? Come listen to a lively and passionate debate about this very important issue!

JUAN A. FIGUEROA
As its first president, Juan A. Figueroa has led the Universal Health Care Foundation of Connecticut's strategic direction and growth since January 2003. During his tenure, the Foundation has made a major impact on health care policy in the state and solidified its position as a catalyst for bringing about universal health care. Under Mr. Figueroa, the Foundation has expanded its partnerships and coalitions with a broad spectrum of business, medical providers, clergy and labor. The Foundation's grant making, research, and communications strategies have been widely acclaimed and played a pivotal role in moving universal health care to the forefront of the state's policy agenda. In 2006, the Foundation launched a statewide public education campaign about the benefits of universal health care that has garnered national attention.

Eric J. George is associate counsel for the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA), the state's largest business organization with over 10,000 members. CBIA works to promote a healthy business climate, which encourages economic growth and job creation in the state. Mr. George specializes in health care policy and represents business views on health care issues before the state legislature and administrative agencies.
