In December, Evan Flaschen '82, a partner at the Hartford office of Bracewell & Giuliani, and Pedro Segarra '85, mayor of Hartford, celebrated at Bracewell's fifth annual holiday celebration. Guests were asked to bring items to support a selected group of area non-profits.

Bart A. Sayet '83 was recently recognized by the Norwich (CT) chapter of the NAACP with its Community Service Award. The Community Service Award is presented to an individual who ensures educational, social and cultural programs are held in the greater Norwich area. The award was presented to Sayet at the organization's 48th Freedom Awards Dinner, "Affirming America's Promise."

Michael J. Donnelly '90, a partner in the Construction Practice Group at Murtha Cullina LLP, has been recognized by the Associated General Contractors of Connecticut (AGC-CT) with the 'Supplier/Service Provider of the Year" award. Donnelly was presented the award at the AGC-CT's Industry Recognition Dinner this past fall.

Jennifer Percy '02 was the recipient of the American Bar Association’s Section of State and Local Government Law’s 14th Annual Jefferson B. Fordham Award for Law Office Accomplishment. This award is presented to a state or local government law office in recognition of sustained outstanding performance or a specific extraordinary accomplishment. Percy is counsel and manager for legal services at North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, Raleigh, North Carolina.

Hector Pineiro '89 was the lead attorney in a wrongful death suit against a gun manufacturer that resulted in the largest settlement ever paid to a shooting victim.

Jay Sicklick, director of the Center for Children's Advocacy's Medical-Legal Partnership, has been named a Health Care Hero for 2011 by the Hartford Business Journal for his work in community service and advocacy. Sicklick also serves as the Center's deputy director.

The Honorable Joette Katz '77, former CT Supreme Court justice and current commissioner for the CT Department of Children and Families, was recognized as a "Woman of Influence" at the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame 18th Annual Induction Ceremony.

Corey J. Brinson '05, Todd E. Cusano '00, Chad A. Landmon '99 and Karen T. Staib '98 were recognized by the Hartford Business Journal in their 2011 "40 Under 40." 

Professor Mark J. Cowan '04 has received a 2011 Foundation Scholar Award which honors faculty members at Boise State University for outstanding teaching. Cowan is an associate professor of accountancy in the College of Business and Economics.

Brian T. O'Connor '68 was recently honored by the United Way of Western Connecticut with its Community Inspiration Award. He was recognized as a driving force in the Stamford business and philanthropic community. O'Connor is a founding partner at Diserio Martin O'Connor & Castiglioni LLP in Stamford.
