Applying for Admission
Applicants for admission to the LL.M. Program in US Legal Studies must hold a J.D. or equivalent degree from a law faculty outside the United States. The admissions committee considers the applicant's academic performance, intellectual curiosity and professional experience. The School of Law admits approximately 20 LL.M. candidates each year; the number of applications and expressions of interest significantly exceed that number. Consequently, admission is selective and limited to those who demonstrate academic excellence as well as the highest degree of fluency in both comprehending and writing English. Courses are taught solely in English and candidates must demonstrate fluency in reading and writing English by achieving a TOEFL score of at least 585 on the paper-based exam, 240 on the computer based exam, or 90 - 100 on the internet based exam. All international student applications should be received by June 1 for fall enrollment, or November 15th for spring enrollment. Applications received before these dates will be given priority consideration. Admission decisions will generally be made within several weeks of when a full application is received. Application forms may be downloaded from the website, or obtained from: Office of Graduate Studies University of Connecticut School of Law 65 Elizabeth Street Hartford, CT 06105-2290, USA email: usllm@law.uconn.edu While you can download the application, due to privacy concerns applicants must mail their application to the Program rather than sending it by e-mail.
