Application Instructions

All international student applications should be received by April 15th for fall enrollment or November 15th for spring enrollment. Applications received before these dates will be given priority consideration. Applicants will be notified by May 15th or December 15th of the Admission's Committee decision. Applications for students not requiring a VISA will be accepted through July 1 for fall enrollment, and December 1 for spring enrollment.

  1. Request a copy of your TOEFL results to be sent directly to the Insurance Law Center.  The university code is 3915.

  2. Complete the Application for Admission fully. All applicants should submit each required document with the application. All documents submitted for consideration must be properly numbered, typed or neatly printed in ink, and have the applicant's name and Social Security number at the top of each page. The Social Security number, wherever requested, is optional and is used for identification purposes only.

  3. Give the recommendation forms to two or three (international applicants) present or former law or graduate professors or employers. If you have graduated from law school or graduate school within the last three years, it is highly recommended that at least one recommendation be given to a professor. Each should return the form to you in an envelope signed across the seal to be sent in with this application form.

  4. Request a certified copy of your transcript from all of your law and/or graduate schools to be sent directly from the school(s) to the Insurance Law Center. Request a copy of your LSDAS report from your law school to be sent directly from the school to the Insurance Law Center. If English is not your native language, you are required to take the test of the National Council on the Testing of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

  5. Enclose a check payable to "The University of Connecticut School of Law" in the amount of $40 for the application processing fee.

  7. The application is self-completing. When completed, please submit the following documents at the same time:

    • Application form
    • Two or three (international applicants) letters of recommendation signed across the seal
    • Personal Statement (see Application form)
    • Educational listing (see Application form)
    • Resume
    • Explanation of any disciplinary action or conviction (if applicable)
    • International Students ONLY: INS BIOGRAPHIC INFORMATION FORM
    • Financial Declaration Form
