  • On February 9, Professor Hillary Greene will present 'The Role of the Competition Community in Promoting Innovation" at an international conference at Nagoya University entitled International Issues Relating to a Pro-Innovation Patent System and Competition Policy.

  • Members of the Law School community are invited to a Lunar New Year Celebration on Wednesday, February 13. RSVP is required.

  • On February 11, Professor Alexandra Lahav will be a featured speaker at "The New Class Action Landscape," a continuing legal education course being offered by the Boston Bar Association.

  • The Law School will return to normal operations on Tuesday, February 12. Classes will resume as scheduled.

  • On February 9, Richard Wilson will deliver a keynote address at a conference on "Disasters, Displacement and Human Rights: Framing the Field" at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville.

  • On February 8, Professor Richard Pomp will be a speaker at the 2013 National Multistate Tax Symposium in Orlando.

  • On February 8, Associate Dean Leslie Levin will be a presenter for "The Relationship Between Bar Admissions Standards and Subsequent Lawyer Discipline" at the 2013 Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers' Mid-Year meeting in Dallas.

  • The Insurance Law Center is hosting a symposium in Washington, DC on February 7 and 8 titled "The Political Economy of Financial Regulation." Professors Patricia A. McCoy and James Kwak will be presenters at the conference.

  • On February 7, Associate Dean Darcy Kirk will be the featured speaker for the New Orleans Association of Law Libraries meeting. Kirk is currently serving as president of the American Association of Law Libraries.

  • On February 5, the Public Interest Law Group (PILG) will offer a session on how to effectively complete the 2013 application for PILG fellowships. Last year, fourteen students were awarded fellowships where they served at organizations throughout the country.

  • Students are invited to join members of the IT staff for Tech Tuesday on February 5. A member of the IT staff will be available to answer questions about technology, assist with problems and show new tools.

  • On February 3, Professor Joseph A. MacDougald will present "The Supreme Court's Heller Decision and the Contours of the Second Amendment" at a community forum at Temple Beth Tikvah in Madison.

  • On February 3, Professor Peter Kochenburger will present "Consumer Protection and Insurance Regulation in 2013" at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners annual conference.

  • On February 6, the Black Law Students Association will present its annual Night of Inspiration featuring a panel of experts who will speak on "The School to Prison Pipeline and the Threat to Equality of Opportunity in the Classroom."

  • On February 2, Professor Julia Simon-Kerr will present "Inexpert Valuations: How Courts (Should) Evaluate Complex Expert Testimony" at the Sharing Scholarship, Building Teachers Workshop at Albany Law School.

  • On February 1, Professor David Thaw will present a paper on the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act at Northwestern Law's Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology's symposium, "Cybercrime."
  • On February 1, the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity invites Law School students to a panel presentation on "Being a Successful New Attorney or Summer Associate." Student should RSVP through Symplicity.

  • On January 30, the Federalist Society will present Karin Agness of the American Enterprise Institute who will deliver a talk on "Becoming Superwoman: 'Having it All' and the Choices of the Modern Professional Woman."

  • The Honorable Joette Katz '77, commissioner of Connecticut's Department of Children and Families, has been named the Public Official of the Year by Governing magazine. Katz was recognized for her work in decreasing the number of children in group homes and placing them into less restrictive settings.

  • On January 30, Professor Richard Pomp will be a panelist for "Best & Worst of State Tax Administration and Justice vs. Injustice: The Prince of Darkness and the Master of Misconception 'Hurdling' the Issues of Nexus, Apportionment, and Discrimination" at the 22nd Annual Ohio Tax Conference.

  • Law School classes that start at or after 5:00 p.m. this evening are canceled.

  • Andrew J. McDonald '91 has been approved by the CT Senate and House of Representatives to serve as a justice on the CT Supreme Court. Governor Dannel P. Malloy has nominated Christine E. Keller '77 to be a judge on the CT Appellate Court. Governor Malloy also has nominated six UConn Law graduates to become judges on the Superior Court.

  • On January 28, the Insurance Law Center will present Dr. Christian Armbrüster who will speak on the European Union Solvency II initiative. Dr. Armbrüster is a noted insurance law expert from Berlin, Germany.

  • On January 24, the Office of International Programs will present a talk by Dr. Dire Tladi LL.M. '00 who will speak about his experience as a legal advisor of the South African Permanent Mission to the United Nations. 

  • On January 25, Christopher P. DeSantis will present "Building Mentoring Relationships Across Generational Divides." Members of the Law School community are invited to attend. The event is presented by the Career Planning Center.
