A non-waivable acceptance deposit of $500 is required of every accepted candidate for the Insurance LL.M. who intends on attending the program. The deposit is due within dates set by the Admissions Committee and stated in the letter of acceptance.
Instructional fees for graduate courses offered through the Insurance Law Center are $1009 per credit hour for the 2008-2009 academic year. Students who are enrolled full time, and registered for 12 credits per semester will have program fees totaling $12,108. Students enrolled in the LL.M. program on a full-time, part-time, distance learning, or non-degree basis pay the same instructional fee on a per credit basis. Student services and related fees are set forth below. Please see the student handbook for a description of fees. Student health insurance is available for an additional fee paid directly to the carrier.
The fee schedule that follows presents the changes for the fall 2008 semester. With the exception of the parking fee, which is an annual fee, charges for the spring 2008 semester will be identical. The deposit account charge and/or the UConn Co-operative Bookstore account charge will be added, if applicable. Total costs are reflected as per semester charges. For a breakdown of fees per credit, please consult the Business Office bulletin board.

Fee bills for LL.M. students are mailed in June for the fall semester. Registration is not complete until all fees have been paid in full. A student may apply for a limited deferment of the payment date for a semester fee bill through the Student Finance Office. The basis for deferment is a pending check from a loan or grant fund or the direct payment of fees to the Law School by a student's employer.
If a student withdraws before the first day of scheduled activities or classes, 100% of fees paid (minus the admissions deposit) is refunded. A graduated scale is used for later withdrawals. Applicants requiring further information regarding law school fees, health insurance and policies regarding financial matters should contact the Business Office at the Law School.
Educational Loan Programs
The Law School provides loan funds through the Federal Stafford Loan Program (subsidized and unsubsidized, $18,500 annual maximum) and private loan programs. Application forms may be obtained from the Student Finance Office at the Law School.
International Students
Lawyers from other countries are encouraged to apply. They will join our 20 international students here for a year-long program in U.S. Legal Studies. The School of Law does not have loans available for international LL.M. students; a limited number of scholarships in the form of partial fee (tuition) waivers are awarded on the basis of outstanding scholarship or financial need.
Career Services
All students at the School have access to services provided by the Law School's Office of Career Services, the exception being on campus interviews, which are limited to J.D. students. The academic reputation of the School is excellent, and the on-campus recruitment program and other aspects of career services have remained strong throughout the national and regional economic cycles. Employers using the Office are required to give equal consideration to all students who apply, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, marital or parental status, sexual preference, physical handicap, or veteran status.
