John Tomich is Assistant Clinical Professor of Law and Supervising Patent Attorney for the University of Connecticut School of Law Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Law Clinic. He is a licensed patent attorney with extensive expertise in intellectual property, corporate governance, business law, M&A transaction, international law and litigation.

Prior to teaching, Professor Tomich was General Counsel and Secretary for CUNO Incorporated, a publicly traded multinational high-tech filtration company headquartered in Meriden, Connecticut, where he oversaw the $1.4 billion dollar acquisition of CUNO by 3M Corporation. Professor Tomich also served as an in-house patent attorney for The Hoover Company, a multinational manufacturer of domestic appliances in North Canton, Ohio, and an associate in the intellectual property law firm Renner, Kenner, Greive, Bobak & Taylor, in Akron, Ohio.

Professor Tomich is admitted to practice in Ohio and Pennsylvania and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He also is admitted in good standing before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Federal Circuit, and also the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio. He is a member of the American Bar Association; American Intellectual Property Law Association; Ohio State Bar Association, Intellectual Property Law Section; and American Society of Corporate Secretaries. He is a Dispute Resolution Neutral for the World Intellectual Property Organization, serving as an independent arbitrator and mediator in intellectual property disputes. Professor Tomich also served as Special Master to the Common Pleas Court, Mahoning County, Ohio for intellectual property law cases.
