Intellectual Property Certificate
The Intellectual Property Center offers a certificate in Intellectual Property Law to JD students. Students wanting to participate in the certificate program can fashion an individualized curriculum that includes five semesters of intellectual property training. The intellectual property faculty is committed to a full understanding of the convergences of intellectual property law, combining practice-directed material with public policy concerns, and a strong grounding in the philosophical arguments underlying the laws of patent, trademark and copyright. There is no application procedure for the certificate program in Intellectual Property.

Tax Studies Certificate
Students in the certificate program for Tax Law participate in a supervised writing project, externship, or clinic in the area of tax law. They may begin their tax studies in Federal Income Taxation in their first year, and continue the study of taxation in a variety of courses during the last four semesters of law school.

Law and Public Policy Certificate
The certificate in Law and Public Policy requires course work at both the Law School and the Department of Public Policy (DPP) in West Hartford. To be eligible for this certificate, students must make formal application to, and be accepted in, the Law & Public Policy program.

Human Rights Certificate
The Graduate Certificate in Human Rights, operated in conjunction with the UConn Human Rights Institute and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, enables law students and CLAS graduate students to pursue a concentration in the burgeoning interdisciplinary field of international human rights. To be eligible for this certificate, students must make formal application to, and be accepted in, the program. Course may be taken at the School of Law and on the Storrs campus. Relevant courses taken abroad while pursuing a J.D. at the Law School may be counted toward satisfaction of this certificate subject to the approval of the Director of the Certificate Program and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.

Energy and Environmental Law Certificate The Certificate in Energy & Environmental Law represents a unique opportunity for students at the University of Connecticut School of Law to focus their studies in two vibrant and increasingly intertwined, fields. A Law School graduate holding the certificate will be distinguished from her peers as someone who has devoted time to a disciplined study of these important subjects.
