HBO is producing a documentary about the people behind the 1967 U.S. Supreme Court case Loving v. Virginia, according to an article in the ABA Journal.
The landmark decision struck down laws banning interracial marriage in the United States. The film tells the story of Richard and Mildred Loving, the couple behind the famous decision. It features never-before-seen footage and still photos, along with interviews with the Lovings’ attorneys. The filmmaker became interested in making the film after reading Mildred Loving’s obituary in the N.Y. Times in 2008.
The film will debut on Valentine’s Day.
