Teaching, Authenticity and Critical Reflection
On October 1 Professor Kaaryn Gustafson will be a panelist for "On Pedagogy: Teaching, Authenticity, and Critical Reflection" at the Society of Amerian Law Teachers (SALT) LatCrit Junior Faculty Workshop.
Professor Gustafson has extensive knowledge of the nation's welfare system and a passion for getting beyond rhetoric to study how welfare functions in practice. Her dissertation, The Morality and Rationality of Welfare: Welfare Recipients' Negotiation of the Welfare System, for which she earned a Ph.D. in Jurisprudence and Social Policy from the University of California at Berkeley, is a sophisticated demonstration, based on countless personal interviews with welfare recipients, of why the rules placed on the books by welfare lawmakers may often bear little resemblance to the system experienced by those we are trying to help.

On May 15, Professor Darcy Kirk will be the luncheon speaker at the annual meeting of the New Jersey Law Librarians Association where she will update the group on the activities of the Association of American Law Libraries (AALL). Kirk currently serves as president of the AALL.

Professor Richard A. Wilson will deliver three talks in Oslo, Norway on May 14 and 15 including "Gangster's Paradise? Framing Crime in Sub-Saharan Africa" at the Department of Social Anthropology at the University of Oslo.
