The Supreme Court Database is a free web resource that provides statistical information about each case decided by the court from 1953 to the present. Funded by the National Science Foundation, the database includes over 200 pieces of information about each case. Users can search for information by many different variables, including date of decision, how the court took jurisdiction, issues decided, disposition of the case, winning party, how the individual justices voted, and more.

The user-friendly web interface allows those with little statistical knowledge or expertise to generate and analyze data sets online. More complicated analyses can be done using downloadable files that can be used with statistical software. A series of brief online lessons is provided to help users search and/or analyze data.
