Student access to Lexis and Westlaw over the summer is as follows:

Lexis

Students will have full access to Lexis Advance all summer for educational purposes.  Students simply need to have a registered Lexis Advance ID.  Educational use includes: summer law school classes; law review, law journal, or moot court research; research associated with pursuing a grant or scholarship; services as an RA to a professor; internship, externship, or clinic position for school credit or graduation requirement; study for the bar exam; or research skill improvement for educational purposes.

Current students or graduates engaged in public interest work are eligible for continued access to Lexis Advance through the ASPIRE program.

Lexis.com ID’s will be restricted to a limited menu of career resources from June 1 to August 1.

Westlaw

Continuing students will automatically get 40 hours of Westlaw/WestlawNext usage in both June and July.  Students can further extend their passwords for the summer for the following reasons: summer law school classes; law review or law journal work; project for a professor; moot court; unpaid, nonprofit public-interest internship/externship pro bono work required for graduation.  Just click on the “Need Your Westlaw Password This Summer” link on the right side of the Westlaw home page.

Graduating student passwords expire on 5/31/2012.  However, passwords can be extended for 5 hours of bar prep/study in June and July.

If you are uncertain as to whether you qualify for summer access, contact our Lexis or Westlaw account representatives.
