Frank Wagner, the U. S. Supreme Court’s reporter of decisions, is retiring after more than 23 years on the job. The reporter’s office is responsible for editing and processing all court opinions, as well as for writing the syllabus or summary for each case. Wagner recently granted the National Law Journal a rare interview in which he provides a behind-the-scenes look at the court. He discusses, among other things, stylistic differences among the justices and the future of print versions of court opinions in a digital age.

For more, go to Part 1 and Part 2 of the interview.
