The November 2012 issue of Student Lawyer features an article by legal writing expert Bryan Garner about the poor writing found in law school casebooks.

Garner points out that much of the reading assigned in law school is like “slow-drip water torture.”  Opinions excerpted in casebooks are especially cumbersome in his view.

To help students cope, he is sponsoring a “Bad-Legal-Writing Contest.”  Send the worst instances you can find to bgarner@lawprose.org (see his article for full details).
