Pedagogy and Critique

Professor Michael Fischl's essay, "Pedagogy and Critique: Values and Assumptions in the Law School Classroom," has been selected for the inaugural issue of The Docket, a new web site launched by the Buffalo Law Review.

Professor Fischl's teaching and research interests focus on labor and employment law, legal theory, and legal education, and his work has appeared in Columbia Law Review, Law & Social Inquiry, and numerous other law journals. He is co-editor (with Joanne Conaghan and Karl Klare) of Labor Law in an Era of Globalization: Transformative Practices and Possibilities (Oxford 2002); co-author (with Dean Jeremy Paul) of Getting to Maybe: How to Excel on Law School Exams (Carolina Academic Press 1999); and co-chair of Intell, an international network of progressive scholars and practitioners in the labor and employment law field. In 2006, he was the recipient of the Golden Apple award for outstanding teaching and service at the University of Miami where he served on the law faculty for 23 years.

  • On May 21, Professor Richard A. Wilson will present "International Law of Speech Crimes" as part of a series of guest lectures at the International Criminal Court, The Netherlands. 

  • On May 20, the Law School's Insurance Law Center will present a symposium on Lawyers Professional Liability. The event is being presented in cooperation with the Hartford Chapter of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.

  • On May 17, Professor Richard Pomp will be a presenter at the 10th Annual New Mexico Tax Policy Conference in Albuquerque.

  • On May 15, Professor Darcy Kirk will be the luncheon speaker at the annual meeting of the New Jersey Law Librarians Association where she will update the group on the activities of the Association of American Law Libraries (AALL). Kirk currently serves as president of the AALL.
