The TV series The Paper Chase, Season One and Season Two, has been added to the library’s DVD collection, and a special 30th Anniversary edition of the novel that inspired the series has been added to the "new book shelf" just inside the library entrance.
Written by Harvard Law School graduate John Jay Osborn, Jr., The Paper Chase tells the story of James T. Hart and a group of other first-year law students at a prestigious Eastern university. The stories center mainly on their experiences with contracts professor Charles Kingsfield, portrayed by John Houseman in the TV series and the movie based on the novel. At the time it was published, it was considered the first novel to accurately portray the law school experience. The critically-acclaimed TV series (DVD Season One reviewed here and here, DVD Season Two reviewed here and here) premiered in1978, five years after the movie, which earned Houseman an Academy Award for best supporting actor.
