Ever wonder about the origins of law-related phrases such as "white shoe law firm," "third degree," or "blue law"? Then check out LawTalk: The Unknown Stories Behind Familiar Legal Expressions, which has just been added to the library’s "new book shelf."

The book contains the colorful stories behind over 75 words and phrases that have a particular connection with law or are used in talking about law. Some phrases are ancient in origin, while others come from popular culture, but most of the terms are familiar to almost everyone. Many of the entries are augmented by sidebars or lighthearted historical material.

For more, listen to an interview with co-author Elizabeth Thornburg or read a preview on Google Books.
