On March 16, 1970, Newsweek published a cover story on the fledgling feminist movement.  The same day, 46 female employees of the magazine charged that they had been systematically discriminated against in hiring and promotion.  It was the first female class action lawsuit, and the first by women in the media.

In The Good Girls Revolt: How the Women of Newsweek Sued Their Bosses and Changed the Workplace, Lynn Povich, the first woman senior editor of the magazine and one of the key figures in this landmark case, tells the story of this dramatic event through the lives of several of the participants.
