LexisNexis History and Westlaw Research Trails

When you’re searching on Lexis or Westlaw and you want to keep track of your work, keep in mind that your searches are saved automatically on both services. LexisNexis "History" and Westlaw "Research Trails" allow you to retrace your steps without having to reconstruct your searches.

To access your LexisNexis History, click on "History" in the upper right corner of the screen. Your "Recent Results," which are the searches that you have done in the past 24 hours, display first. Click on the "Archived Activity" tab to access searches you have done in the last 30 days. From this screen, you can re-run or edit your searches and sort them by date.

To access your Westlaw Research Trails, click on "Research Trail" in the upper right corner of the screen. Your current research trail displays on the first screen. Click on the "List of All Research Trails" tab to access searches you have done in the last 14 days. Once you have displayed a particular research trail, you can re-run, download, or e-mail it.
