Legal Writing Tip: 5 Expressions to Avoid

"Legal Writing Pro" Ross Guberman recently provided writers with a list of 5 words and phrases they should try to avoid:

  • Regarding, Concerning - He suggests using "On," "About," or "With" instead.

  • To the extent, To the extent that, In the event, In the event that - You should use "If" or "Even If" instead.

  • Namely, i.e. - Use a colon or a dash.

  • Due to - Use "Because" or "From," or rephrase.

  • Specifically - Enumerate instead.
