Law, Public Policy and Architecture
On May 17, Professor Sara Bronin spoke on "Connecting Law, Public Policy and Architecture" at The American Institute of Architects National Convention and Design Exposition in Washington, DC.
Professor Bronin joined the faculty in 2006 and is an associate professor of law and the co-director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Law. She has researched and published in the area of property, land use, historic preservation, green building, and renewable energy law. Her scholarship focuses on creating economically and environmentally sustainable American cities.
Professor Bronin has served as one of the lead attorneys for the mixed-use, transit-oriented, LEED-Platinum-designed 360 State Street project. She has also been the president of the Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association (during the year it won the Hispanic National Bar's Affiliate of the Year Award), the vice president of the Hartford Historic Preservation/Properties Commissions, and a board member of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation. She is an affiliated faculty member of the University of Connecticut Center for Environmental Sciences and Engineering and has coordinated several Gallivan Conferences in real property law.

On May 20, the Law School's Insurance Law Center will present a symposium on Lawyers Professional Liability. The event is being presented in cooperation with the Hartford Chapter of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.

On May 17, Professor Richard Pomp will be a presenter at the 10th Annual New Mexico Tax Policy Conference in Albuquerque.

On May 15, Professor Darcy Kirk will be the luncheon speaker at the annual meeting of the New Jersey Law Librarians Association where she will update the group on the activities of the Association of American Law Libraries (AALL). Kirk currently serves as president of the AALL.

Professor Richard A. Wilson will deliver three talks in Oslo, Norway on May 14 and 15 including "Gangster's Paradise? Framing Crime in Sub-Saharan Africa" at the Department of Social Anthropology at the University of Oslo.

On May 10, Professor Bethany Berger will moderate a discussion at the Progressive Property 2013 faculty workshop at the Loyola University, New Orleans, College of Law.
