The European Court of Justice ruled today (October 18) that patents cannot be issued in Europe on processes that involve removing a stem cell from a human embryo, destroying it.   The case, Oliver Brustle v. Greenpeace (C-34/10), was referred to the Court by the German Federal Court of Justice.
