Assistant Attorney General and Army Reserve Captain Thomas Saadi will present a brief overview of the history, culture, religion and language of the Middle East with a focus on Arabs and Muslims.  Attorney Saadi has given this presentation to the Army’s 4 th Legal Support Organization as part of their annual training requirements, the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Regional On-Site training in New York City and the JAG/IG USAR War Council Conference in Houston, Texas.

Attorney Saadi writes: “Regarding this topic and its relationship to the law, I believe it is inherently part of the proper practice of law to know and understand both your clients’ and adversaries’ background.  This is particularly important in the growing field of international business (contract and transactional), investigation, defense and prosecution of terrorists and enemy combatants, as well as enforcing the provisions of the applicable international conventions, rules of engagement and law of war.  That said, I believe this topic has a direct nexus with real life legal issues.”
