For  students looking for guidance on establishing a solo practice, the law library has a number of books dedicated to this exact topic.  In this post, I’ll focus on general office management.  In my next few posts, I’ll be highlighting resources in our collection on Marketing, Billing & Development; Technology; and Ethics & Insurance.   Additionally, you can search the catalog for the word “solo” and find guides for specific practice areas designed for the solo or small law, such as trusts and estates, real estate, bankruptcy, and more.

The ABA also provides many resources relevant to the solo and small firm practitioner on their web site at the General Practice, Solo & Small Firm Division,  Law Practice Management Section, and the Center for Professional Responsibility.
