Fundamental Human Rights

On November 22, Professor Ángel Oquendo will present "The Inter-American Court of Human Rights in Latin America" at the "Colloquium on Fundamental Human Rights" at Western University of Santa Catarina, Brazil. In addition, he also will present a graduate seminar on "International Human Rights."

Professor Oquendo is the Olimpiad S. Ioffe Professor of International and Comparative Law. He was one of two UConn faculty members who received Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad grants for the 2010-11 academic year. He is the author of numerous publications including: "The Solitude of Latin America: The Struggle for Rights South of the Border," 43 Tex. Int’l L.J. 185 (2008); "The Lowdown on Law, Language, and Latin@s," 83 Ind. L.J. 1481 (2008) and Latin American Law (Foundation Press, 2006) among others.

  • On February 9, Richard Wilson will deliver a keynote address at a conference on "Disasters, Displacement and Human Rights: Framing the Field" at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville.
