If you are researching a congressional issue or need information on Congress, check out CQ Press Electronic Library. This database, from Congressional Quarterly, can be accessed from the library’s research databases page and includes the following sources:
- CQ Weekly provides nonpartisan news and analysis of all congressional activity. Each issue provides in-depth reporting of upcoming issues as well as a complete wrap-up of the previous week’s news, including the status of bills in play, behind-the-scenes maneuvering, committee and floor activity, debates, and all roll-call votes. Issues are archived back to 1983 and can be searched by topic, keyword, bill number, date, committee, and page number. Articles can also be browsed by date or by topic.
- CQ Researcher provides original comprehensive reporting and analysis on issues in the news, covering topics such as criminal justice, international affairs, health, social trends, education, the environment, technology, and the economy. Reports are archived back to 1991 and can be searched by keyword, topic, or date. There is also a subject index, and reports can be browsed by date or by topic.
- CQ Press Congress Collection is a tool for analyzing the history and development, legislation, powers, and personalities of the U. S. Congress. It provides vital biographical and voting data for members of Congress, as well as legislative information organized by topic, legislative analysis, interest group scores of members, and a Congressional Encyclopedia.
