Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King

As you pause for a few moments on Monday, January 21 to reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy, we invite you to listen to the words of Congressman John Lewis from our spring commencement. Congressman Lewis of Georgia is among the country's most notable civil rights leaders.

Congressman Lewis received an honorary Doctorate of Laws degree from the University during the ceremony. The degree was conferred by Connecticut's Governor Dannel P. Malloy. The degree ceremony is at 18:18 in the video. Congressman Lewis' remarks begin at 28:40 in the video.
